NWS: Carson City may see 3 to 7 inches of snow Sunday

Carson City could see 3 to 7 inches of snow on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

It its forecast posted at weather.gov, the NWS said Saturday will be mostly sunny with snow showers beginning around 11 p.m., with snow increasing through Sunday.

A “chance of snow” remains in the daily forecast through Thursday.


THE FORECAST

Friday night: A 30 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 21. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 41. South wind around 5 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.

Saturday night: A slight chance of snow showers between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., then a chance of snow after 5 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Sunday: Snow before 5 p.m., then rain and snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 38. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Sunday night: Rain and snow. Snow level 5,000 feet. Low around 26. Southeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Monday: Snow, possibly mixed with rain. Snow level 5,200 feet. High near 42. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Monday night: A chance of rain and snow before 11 p.m., then a chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23.

Tuesday: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40.

Tuesday night: A slight chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18.

Wednesday: A slight chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 39.

Wednesday night: A slight chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 18.

Thursday: A chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 38.
