NSP: Juvenile pedestrian killed in Lyon County crash

The Nevada State Police is seeking witnesses to a fatal crash in Lyon County near the Carson City line on Tuesday, Jan. 23, according to a news release.

A juvenile that was not identified in the release was killed when hit by Ford F-350, the state police said.

On Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m., NSP responded to the crash at U.S. 50 near Highlands Drive (mile marker 1) in Lyon County.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 Ford F-350 was traveling eastbound on U.S. 50 approaching Highlands Drive when it struck the juvenile pedestrian crossing the highway toward Highlands Drive. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased, the release said.

All parties involved in the crash remained on scene and are cooperating with the authorities.

The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team is investigating this crash.

This marks the 2nd fatal crash for Northern Command West, resulting in 2 fatalities for 2024.
