A 22-year-old man died Jan. 29 in a rollover crash in Lyon County, according to the Nevada State Police.

Leo Alexander Camarena Nunez died at the scene of the crash on Interstate 80 near mile marker 53, a NSP news release said. He was the third fatality of 2023 reported by the NSP, Highway Patrol-Northern Command West.

The preliminary investigation revealed that on Sunday, Jan. 29 at approximately 6:12 a.m., NSP responded to the crash in Lyon County.

A white Ford F-150 pickup was traveling eastbound on I-80, the release said when, for unknown reasons, it failed to maintain its travel lane and entered the center dirt median.

Nunez steered to the right, causing the Ford to rotate clockwise. The vehicle rotated back across the eastbound travel lanes and into the right side dirt shoulder, causing the vehicle to overturn, the release said. Nunez was ejected and succumbed to his injuries on scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
