The Carson Valley youth lacrosse league continues to see its turnout rise.

The league began with a small group of middle school girls in 2018 before expanding to include boys in spring 2021.

Camps, practices and games run throughout the year with fall, spring and summer seasons.

Now, the league is for boys and girls from third through eighth grade and, new this summer, holds a partnership with the Douglas County Community and Recreation Center.

The camp that’s partnered with the county will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 16 to Aug. 1.

No equipment is necessary to join and registration is open through the community center.

“Our growth has been slow, but we've expanded from girls only in spring 2018 to separate boys and girls in spring 2021 with our age range expanding from middle school ages into elementary grades,” said Anissa Rose, Carson Valley youth lacrosse manager.

There are differences between the two games as boys lacrosse allows for contact while girls remains non-contact.

Another addition to the experience will be a boys competitive travel team, open to existing and previous experienced players from the spring team.

They will compete in the Tahoe Climb tournament July 27-28, which is sponsored by the High Sierra Lacrosse League of Northern Nevada.

The camp averages roughly 20 participants in the fall, but sees an uptick in numbers in the spring.
