PK O’Neill

Occupation: Assemblyman for District 40; Retired division chief, Nevada Department of Public Safety
Age: 72
Contact: PK@PK4NV.com, www.PKforNevada.com

Record of service:
I have a 40-year record of active involvement and leadership in Carson City and Nevada. My career was spent protecting our community in law enforcement, capped by my service as a division chief with the Nevada Department of Public Safety.
After retiring from my career in public safety, I was elected to represent Assembly District 40 for three sessions of the Nevada Legislature. I was elected by my peers to serve as the Minority Floor Leader for the 2023 Session.
I was able to pass many of my bills during each session; dealing with veteran’s care, increasing criminal penalties, improving medical services and creating incentives for state agencies to save money.
I have previously served as a commissioner on the Nevada Commission on Ethics and chairman of the Carson City, Storey & Douglas County Salvation Army Advisory Board. Currently, I serve on the board of directors for the Carson Tahoe Health System (Carson Tahoe Hospital) and am an active member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community.

Education: Miami-Dade Community College (AA 1976); University of Nevada at Lake Tahoe (BS 1985)

Briefly describe the core duties of the position you are running for

State legislator server three primary functions:
• Lawmaking function by researching, writing, and working to pass legislation,
• Representing their districts and working to meet requests for help from constituents
• oversight function for the executive branch

A brief statement about your platform.
As your legislator, I have been and will continue to be an advocate for conservative principles and values. We need policies that promote freedom and liberty. Nevada’s economy has suffered in the past. We need to continue diversifying and strengthening our economy, to be more flexible in supporting local businesses by removing burdensome and unnecessary regulations.
Our education system is broken. I will fight for school choice that empowers parents to make the best choices for their children. Education should be focused on encouraging Nevada’s brightest future minds and expanding opportunities to meet the work force needs of the future.
Just as important as our children are our veterans, and first responders. Our veterans have often been overlooked and we need to show them the same support they showed us. I am committed to continuing to work with veterans on increasing awareness of, and addressing the exorbitant number of veteran’s suicides, by working to improve the quality of healthcare that is available to them. Our first responders, law enforcement and fire personnel, including their dispatchers, provide an invaluable service to our community which we should recognize and continue to appreciate with strong support for their efforts to protect our communities.

What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?
I am a proud Reagan Republican. I believe in the Reagan three-legged stool, and I am committed to advocate for open, accountable, and limited government. I believe in our Constitution and will fight for policies that provide freedom and promote liberty. I am proud to be ranked as one of the Nevada Policy Research Institute’s Top Conservative legislators. I have also been endorsed by top conservative groups like the National Rifle Association (NRA), Nevada Firearms Coalition (NFA), Power2Parent, and various First Responder Associations. During my time in the state legislature, I have fought for our veterans, supported our first responders, and decreased government red tape. I will continue to fight for ensuring election integrity and that every vote counts.
I have lived in Carson City for over 40 years, am married, raised our children and am dedicated to making Nevada a vibrant, economically diverse state with quality educational choices, all within thriving communities.

Drew Ribar

Republican Drew Ribar lives in Washoe Valley and is the business owner of A&A Towing.
“In operating a business, I have discovered problems created by our government that affect people adversely,” he wrote in a statement that ran in the March Nevada Appeal. “To try and solve some problems I started a YouTube channel, ‘Auditing Reno 911,’ to go out and discover if the things I found running my business were happening in other aspects of government. Sadly, I found waste, corruption, and poorly trained people getting paid with tax dollars. My goal in running for office is to help solve those problems and make our government accountable to and serve the people.”
Ribar said he is concerned about a “2-tier justice system,” high costs of living and diminishing quality of life.
“The constant tax and spending by the government employees only hurts the people; this needs to stop,” he said.
