Obituary: Fred R. Mandley

A memorial service for Fred R. Mandley, 87, a Carson City resident for the past 23 years, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Mandley died Aug. 12, 2003, in Carson City. He was born April 20, 1916, in Carroll, Ohio, to Thomas F. and Anna Munck Mandley.

There are five generations of his family living in Carson City.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Mr. Mandley was a retail clothing store manager. He was a reserve officer for the San Bruno Police Department for 20 years. He was a life member and past president of the San Bruno Kiwanis and a member of the First Baptist Church in San Bruno for more than 35 years. He loved woodworking and made picture frames and furniture. He also loved baseball and enjoyed gardening.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise in 1987; soul mate of 13 years Helen Morgan Aug. 7; two sisters; three brothers and one grandson.

Among his survivors are his daughter and son-in-law Arlene and Hank Cosio of Carson City; daughter Marjorie Wass of Mariposa, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Bonnie and Ernie Bertocchi of Carson City; son Robert of Pearl City, Hawaii; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Inurnment will be in Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.
