The Nevada Contractor's Board has suspended a Gardnerville contractor's license over a two-year dispute resulting from what a spokesman said was shoddy remodeling work on an individual's house.

Build With You Construction was cited for substandard workmanship, failure to correct the faulty work and several other violations.

Board spokesman Gary Hoid said the license was originally suspended in 2004 and the owner, listed as Patrick McKinnish, was directed to correct the faulty work.

"He didn't do that and we brought him back to make him comply," said Hoid. "This time, his license is going to stay suspended until he gives us a current financial statement, puts a new bond into place and reimburses the homeowner."

The disciplinary action issued March 31 also cites the company for failure to comply with previous board mandates, failure to respond to a written request from the board and failure to establish financial responsibility. It directs Build With You Construction to pay the homeowner $1,454 and to reimburse the board for investigative costs within 90 days.

If the company doesn't comply, the order says Build With You Construction's contractor's license will be revoked.

This incident is the only disciplinary case involving the company listed on the contractor's board Web site.

The company has been in business in Douglas County since 1997.

Calls to Build With You Construction's Gardnerville office asking for a response to the disciplinary action were not returned.
