A memorial service for Ross Eugene Hilton, 79, a 41-year resident of Carson City, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley with the Rev. Paul E. Deterding officiating.

Mr. Hilton died Jan. 30, 2006, at Evergreen Care Center in Carson City. He was born July 16, 1926, in Rapid City, S.D., to Orrin Hilton and Ella Moore.

He was a businessman, owning and operating several restaurants in Carson City and Virginia City.

He was a merchant marine from 1942 to 1944, and served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948. He was a Lutheran.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Angela Marie Harman.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Kathy Hilton of Fort Wayne, Ind.; daughter and son-in-law Angela and Shawn Lehr of Portland, Ore.; daughters Colleen Harman of Carson City, Carol Blanchet of Reno and Monique Hilton of Las Vegas; sister, Lulla May Pronk, of Huron, S.D.; five half-sisters; three half-brothers, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Cremation took place at Walton's Crematory.

Donations may be made to the Ross Hilton Scholarship Fund for his grandchildren at the Greater Nevada Credit Union, account No. 844195.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
