(Staff Reports) - A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday for his second driving under the influence charge after his speeding vehicle nearly clipped the sideview mirror on a deputy's cruiser.

The deputy reported that a Cadillac traveling 15 mph over the speed limit nearly collided with his cruiser as he was parked in the southbound shoulder of Vista Grande at Princeton shortly before 1 a.m.

He said the vehicle came within six inches of his sideview mirror. The vehicle sped away and the deputy noticed a broken taillight so he initiated a traffic stop.

The driver, Craig Black, admitted having about five alcoholic beverages within an hour.

His record indicated a 2005 conviction for driving under the influence.

He also was on probation in Carson City for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was taken into custody for second driving under the influence and minor consuming.
