Carson man charged with battery

A Carson City man was arrested Thursday night on battery charges.

Nathan Scott Chavez, 27, was taken into custody at 10:10 p.m. after sheriff's deputies were called to his Menlo Street apartment complex. According to the police report, Chavez hit and kicked his neighbor in the complex, accusing him of stealing a computer. The neighbor told deputies he didn't take the computer.

The victim suffered minor cuts on his face and back of his head.

Chavez was charged with battery and ordered held on $1,000 bail. When they checked his records, they also charged him with contempt of court, adding another $887 to his total bail.
