'A Garden Faire' on Sunday

The Historic St. Peter's Episcopal Church presents "A Garden Faire" 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Division and Telegraph in Carson City.

The Faire will feature master gardeners from the extension office, lectures, workshops, seedlings, plants, greeting cards, crafts, cookbooks, apparel, ceramic yard art, jewelry, bird houses, gardening books, plants and flowers.

Bob Reid, author, will lecture on: "Arctic Gardens: Flowers, Birds, and Animals of the North" in the Church Sanctuary at noon and 2:00 p.m.

Three "Garden Faire" baskets are being raffled. Raffle tickets are available the day of the "Garden Faire."

The raffle will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 6. You need not be present to win. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10.

Greenhouse to host three seminars today

David Ruf, owner, Greenhouse Garden Center, in Carson City, will host free seminar "Common Summer Problems In All Plants" at 9 a.m. today. No reservations are required.

Sharon Potter of Greenhouse Garden Center will be offering a very special workshop for children ages 4 and older called "Kids Gardening - Vege Tales" at 11 a.m. today.

She will show children how easy it is to grow flowers and vegetables starting with how to plant them and ending with how to take care of them. This seminar is free however reservations.

From 1-2 p.m. Dr. Malinda Rasmussen of Carson Tahoe Chiropractic will discuss gardening "Tools" to keep you healthy and enjoying what you do."

This workshop is designed to help gardeners get added enjoyment and benefits from working in the yard. She will be covering the topics general stretching, how to decrease joint strain, back problem warning signs, and 10 tips for a healthy back.

The cost to attend this workshop is $3.

Full Circle looks as herbs

Full Circle Compost will present the workshop "Have You Heard the Word of the Herb?" 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. June 12.

The class includes information on how to create an edible landscape; how to use that space for herbs and flowers that you can eat incredible kitchen experiences from fresh herbs; and eat your Weeds - what to keep and what not to keep.

Farmer's market watch

This week at the 395 & 8th St. Early Spring Market 9-1 in the Carson Station parking lot look for: strawberries, cherries, apricots, peaches, fresh eggs, hydroponic grown tomatoes, lettuce, spinach, green beans, asparagus, spring garlic, onions, walnuts, pre-planted lettuce bowls, tomato plants and various veggie starts.
