Storms clearing out for holiday weekend

A brief but a heavy downpour soaked Fallon late Tuesday afternoon. The weatherman, though, is calling for clear to partly skies for the Memorial Day weekend with highs in the 70s.

After two days of intermittent rain, the National Weather Service said Memorial Day weekend should have good weather with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the 40s.

Depending on where people lived in Churchill County, the NWS in Reno said the county received reports of rain measuring from .21 to half an inch on Tuesday.

The city of Fallon and NV Energy responded to numerous power outages Tuesday afternoon with most service restored by 8 p.m.

Thursday night saw more power outages and .30 of rain.

The NWS said highs will be in the 80s next week.
