The Rotary Club of Carson City is taking part in the U.S. Navy Week in Carson City this week. Three Navy representatives will join the Rotarians at their weekly lunch meeting, Tuesday, Sept. 27.
The meeting takes place at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom. U.S. Navy Surgeon General Rear Admiral Bruce Gillingham will be the featured speaker. He will be joined by Chief Cal Moseman and MC1 John Grandin. The public is invited to attend.
Admiral Gillingham is a distinguished orthopedic surgeon and is the recipient of numerous Military and Medical awards. He served aboard the hospital ship USNS Mercy. He was also deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom II where he was in charge of the Surgical Shock Trauma Platoon.
The U.S. Navy is bringing Navy Week to the Reno-Carson City area through Oct. 2 The outreach program gives residents the opportunity to interact with naval officers and sailors at various community events. Navy Week also allows the public to learn about the services the Navy provides as well as its role in national security.
