Wyoming woman dies in Churchill County crash on U.S. 50

A Wyoming woman died in an August crash on U.S. Highway 50 in Churchill County, according to a Nevada State Police news release.

Abigale Lynn Morrison, a 25-year-old-female from Riverton, Wyoming, was pronounced dead at the scene of the Aug. 19 crash. The passenger, an adult male who was not otherwise identified in the release, was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The release did not provide an updated on the passenger’s condition.

According to the release, NSP responded on Aug. 19 at 1:05 a.m., to a report of a crash on U.S. 50 near mile marker 70 in Churchill County.

A blue 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by Morrison was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 when the vehicle departed the travel lane and entered the westbound dirt shoulder, the release said. Morrison over corrected and crossed into the eastbound travel lane. The vehicle then began to rotate clockwise and ultimately exited the roadway on the right dirt shoulder of the eastbound lane and overturned. Morrison and the passenger were ejected from the vehicle.

Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Northern Command West Multidisciplinary Investigation & Reconstruction Team is investigating.

This fatality marks the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol – Northern Command West 32nd fatal crash, resulting in 35 fatalities for 2023.
