Carson High capped the winter sports season with three selections to the Class 5A North boys and girls all-region teams.

Leading the way for the Senators were Lauren Finnerty and Decarlo Quintana, who both earned second team honors.

Finnerty served as the heart and soul of the girls team and finished second in the region in scoring average, putting together more than 15 points per game.

Finnerty was also the team’s leading rebounder, pulling down 8.6 rebounds per contest, and swiped an average of 2.7 steals per contest.

Finnerty scored a career-high 25 points in a loss to Douglas. She also tallied 20-plus points in four of six contests down the home stretch of the Senators’ season.

The boys team relied on Quintana whenever he was on the floor.

The three-sport athlete put together 11.3 points per contest and 7.5 rebounds per game while also averaging nearly two blocks, two steals and an assist.

Quintana scored a season-high 18 points in Carson’s final regular season game against Douglas.

As a junior, Quintana was an honorable mention selection.

Joining Quintana on the all-region team was junior guard Michael Hughes.

Hughes posted an average of 7.5 points per game and over three rebounds, assists and steals per contest.

It marks Hughes’ first appearance on the all-region squad.
