Precipitation – first liquid, then solid – dominates the Carson City forecast for the next week, according to the National Weather Service.

Carson City could start seeing rain Wednesday afternoon and as the week continues rain is expected to turn into snow as temperatures cool. The NWS forecast said snow is “likely” Sunday and Monday.

Minor flood warnings have been issued for parts of California and that system is expected to add to the mountain snowpack overnight.

The Sierra Nevada “will get heavy snow from late Wednesday morning into Thursday,” the NWS said.
