Youth basketball tournament nets 3 champions

Churchill County hosted the ninth annual Fallon Shootout Youth Coed Basketball Tournament recently.

The shootout had 24 teams from all over the region including Fallon. The Yerington Hawks won two titles in the first through third-grade and seventh/eighth-grade divisions, while the Reno Warriors were crowned champs in the fourth through sixth-grade division.

The Fallon Angry Birds placed second in the first through third division, while the Fallon Longhorns place second the fourth through sixth and seventh/eighth-grade brackets.


First/third-grade division

1. Hawks, Yerington

2. Fallon Angry Birds, Fallon

3. Hungry Valley, Sparks

4. Duckwater Braves, Duckwater

Most Valuable Player: Trevor Lemos

All Stars: Justin “Bubbs” Reeves, Joeleah Plummer, Reese Kincaid, McCartney “Micky” McAlexander, Tristan Keo, Jada Guzman and Brandon Blackeye.


Fourth/sixth-grade

1. Warriors, Reno

3. Longhorns, Fallon

4. Little Serpents, Yerington

MVP: Hugh Edmo

All Stars: Derek Sandusky, Morgan Thomas, Robert McFalls, Taya Bobb, Jace Harmon, Lorynn Fagg and Treven Wachsmuth.


Seventh/eighth-grade

1. Hawks, Yerington

2. Chocolate Thunder, Carson City

3. Longhorns, Fallon

4. Silver Stage, Silver Stage
